1. What Data We Collect
Klosr stores data locally on your device and, when you connect with another person, syncs some one-to-one thread data through Apple's iCloud and CloudKit. Klosr does not operate its own note-delivery backend.
Data stored locally on your device
When you use Klosr, the app may store:
- Profile information: Your display name, phone number, and app preferences
- Connection information: Names and phone numbers of people you add in the app
- Draft and sent note content: Note text, drawings, camera-captured moment photos, checklist items, timestamps, and related note metadata
- App state: Thread state, keepsake selections, and local diagnostics needed to keep the app working
Data synced through iCloud when a thread is shared
When you create or accept a private thread with another person, Klosr may sync:
- Shared thread metadata: The thread needed to connect the two participants
- Shared note content: Notes, drawings, camera-captured moment photos, and checklist items sent in that thread
- Shared lightweight activity: Pings, check-ins, and keepsake state tied to that thread
Data you share with us
If you contact Klosr with questions, safety concerns, or feedback, you may share:
- Your email address (if you choose to include it)
- Your message content
- Device information you voluntarily provide for support
This is only collected if you reach out to us. Klosr's in-app support links prefill connection identifiers, but they do not automatically attach your note content or thread history.
2. Messages, Share Links, and Invites
Klosr can open the native Messages app or iOS share sheet when you choose to send an invite or a text version of a note. We do not:
- Send SMS on your behalf from our servers
- Operate a custom messaging relay for invites or notes
- Have access to your message threads
- Intercept delivery after iOS hands the message off
When you choose to text an invite or note, iOS and your carrier handle delivery. Standard carrier or messaging charges may apply depending on your plan.
3. Cloud Sync via iCloud
Klosr uses Apple's iCloud and CloudKit to sync private one-to-one threads between connected people. Here's what that means:
- What syncs: Shared-thread metadata, notes, drawings, checklist items, pings, check-ins, and keepsake state for that thread
- What stays local: Drafts, some app preferences, and local-only connection management state that is not part of a shared thread
- Authentication: Klosr uses your Apple ID for iCloud. There is no separate Klosr account, email, or password system today.
- Storage location: Shared thread data is stored in Apple's iCloud infrastructure. See Apple's privacy policy.
- No custom backend: Klosr does not run its own server to relay notes between people.
Some local app data may also be stored in your private iCloud-backed app database as part of Apple's CloudKit infrastructure, but Klosr still does not run its own analytics or messaging backend.
4. What We Don't Do
- No analytics: We don't track how you use Klosr, which features you use, or when you use them.
- No crash reporting: If the app crashes, we don't automatically send us error logs or crash data.
- No third-party SDKs: We don't integrate tracking, analytics, or advertising libraries. Klosr is built natively with Apple's own frameworks.
- No ads: Klosr has no ads and never will.
- No data selling: We will never sell, trade, or share your data with marketers or data brokers.
- No AI training: Your notes are never used to train machine learning models.
- No AI-written notes: Klosr does not generate note drafts or replies for you inside the note editor.
- No old photo imports: Klosr's moment-photo flow is camera-only. It does not let you choose older photos from your library for note attachments.
5. Data Retention
- Local app data: Local data remains on your device while the app is installed unless it is removed through app behavior, OS cleanup, or app deletion.
- CloudKit data: Shared-thread data may remain in participants' iCloud accounts for as long as the thread exists there, subject to Apple's iCloud handling and any thread-level changes made in the app.
- Support emails: If you contact us, we keep emails for up to 1 year for support purposes, then delete them.
6. Age Requirement
Klosr is intended for users aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If we learn that someone under 18 has used the app, we will delete their information as quickly as possible.
If you believe someone under 18 has used Klosr, please contact us at the email below.
7. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access: Ask what support or contact data you've shared directly with us
- Delete: Request deletion of support emails or other information you've intentionally sent to us
- Manage Apple-held data: Control iCloud-related data through your Apple account and device settings, subject to Apple's policies
To exercise any of these rights, email us at the address below.
8. Security
Klosr takes security seriously:
- On-device protections: Local app data relies on the standard security protections provided by iOS and your device.
- Cloud transport: Shared thread data moves through Apple's CloudKit infrastructure when cloud sync is active.
- No passwords stored: We don't store passwords for Klosr accounts because there are no accounts. You own your data.
- No server logins: There's no Klosr account to compromise because you don't have one.
That said, no security is perfect. If you believe your data has been compromised, please contact us immediately.
9. Third-Party Services
Klosr uses:
- Apple iCloud / CloudKit: Provides data sync for private one-to-one threads. Your shared-thread data is stored in Apple's CloudKit infrastructure and tied to your Apple ID. See Apple's privacy policy
- Apple Messages: When you choose to text an invite or note, Apple's Messages app handles that handoff.
Klosr does not use third-party analytics, ads, tracking services, or external servers. All sync runs through Apple's own infrastructure.
10. Policy Updates
Klosr is a young product. If this privacy policy changes, we will:
- Update the date at the top of this page
- Notify you in the app if the change affects how we handle your data
- Never reduce your privacy protections without your consent
